A Drow city of the underdark by Colby Dunn

Drow

Loosely based on a myth

Drow were first depicted in Norse mythology and were called "Svartalfar", that meaning dark elves, dusky elves, black elves, ex. But the myth gained popularity from the book Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturlson. Latter research showed that drow and dwarfs were synonymous with each other during that time period. Of course, in dungeons and dragons they are different races altogether. Sadly, there is no art depictions of these early drow. There modern depiction is described as tall thin humanoids with elegant features and pointed ears, there skin is dark grey and there hair is a silvery white.
