Hell Hound

Loosely based on myth

The first rendition of hell hounds came from Norse mythology and later Scottish, Welsh, and Irish folklore. They were described as being big dogs with black coats and three toes. Coming from the depths of the underworld this myth was later taken to the Appalachians by settlers heading to Kentucky and west Virginia. They were also said to be the bringers of death, that being, if you saw one you would die soon. In Dungeons and Dragons they gave them fire breath, exploding deaths, and not being able to bring death to whoever sees it.
