Mostly based on mythology
Pixies originate in pre-christian european mythology, the word pixie translates from Swedish to: "Small Faerie". They are described as being eleven inch tall humanoids with charming child-like faces, they dress themselves in tiny clothes made from nature. Some stories say that they are cursed children's spirits that lead traveler's astray. In d&d, Pixies have the same description, though they are not cursed children's spirits and have no malicious intent.
