Wight
Mostly based on mythology
The word wight was first used in old english to simply refer to any person. It was later given different meanings by authors like J.R.R Tolkien and George R.R. Martin. They are described as having pale white hair and sunken skin, being intelligent undead foot soldiers risen to destroy all life. In d&d, Wights have the same description, and they are risen from the grave by Orcus, and other lords of undeath.
