Lamia
Loosely based on myth
The word lamia is a derivative of the two words "lamios" meaning gullet, and Lem, meaning nautical spirit. The first story of a lamia was an ancient greek myth where a woman who goes by the same name turned into a half snake monster/shapeshifter after her children were killed by Herra, godess of Family, women, and childbirth. Herra did so because Lamias' husband Zeus (not the god), was having a private unlawful romance with her. In d&d, Lamias' have the lower halves of lions instead of snakes and are the servants of The demon lord Graz'zt, where he granted them with intoxicating touch as well as illusory and enchanting magic.
