Tarrasque
Loosely based on mythology
The Tarrasque comes from The manuscript "The Golden Legend", made in Southern France during the mid 1200s. It was described to be a monster of pure destruction, tearing apart cities and eating townsfolk. It was described as having the body of an ox with the shell of a spiked turtle, six bear legs, a lions head, a serpentine tail, and sword like teeth. In d&d, the Tarrasque is the biggest, and most powerful creature on the material plane. It has a Tyrannosaurus-like body with a horn plated carapace lining its back. It has the ability to glide through the earth from its lair and every 10 to 900 years it fulfills an unknown cosmic call of destruction.
