Orcs
Mostly based on mythology
Orcs originally come from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The hobbit". They hate elves, are ugly and brutish, and have a caricature-like appearance. The word Orc is derived from the Latin word Orcus, meaning "Hell devil", "specter", and "goblin". In d&d, orcs have the same description, but instead of worshiping an elder evil, they worship Gruumsh, the one-eyed god of slaughter and his pantheon of anarchy. This makes orcs in d&d extremely religious, as every act they perform is for their gods.
A Typical orc, always thinking about the next raid on the elves and eating rocks before battle for good luck.
An orc war chief represents everything his or her tribe strives to be: ruthless, Intimidating, and blessed by the fury of Gruumsh. The only way to remain chief is to out-smart your tribe to make sure you stay in charge. Art from Warhammer online.
An eye of Gruumsh is an Orc who performs a ritual of eating an elf and tearing out one of their eyes. In exchange, their god, Gruumsh blesses them with divine war magic.
An Orog is an Orc blessed with supernatural intelligence by the Orc goddess Luthic. They usually live outside of other orc settlements and sometimes form their own tribes. Orogs feel no emotion but bloodlust and seek to kill anything in their paths or have a high enough price on their hands.
