Wyvern
Somewhat based on mythology
Wyverns originate in 752 A.D in Wales, it was depicted as a large yellow reptile with a crocodilian head sporting two white ox horns, two bird legs, two bat wings, and a serpentine tail that ends with a scorpions stinger. This early depiction of the wyvern was on the crest of many european insignias, with the earliest being the Kingdom of Wessex. The word Wyvern can mean many things when translated to old english, including: "Winged Two-footed Dragon", "Viper", "Adder", "Asp", and "light Javelin". In d&d, Wyverns are one of the least intelligent of dragon kin, they share the same description but have a light tan scale color, and a more snake like head including a forked tongue and a hooded neck. They spend most of there time flying above territories of true dragons, protecting the region with there potent poison.
